In 2011, after the passing away of our dearly beloved mentor, colleague, and friend Hasan Ünal Nalbantoğlu, we decided to hold a symposium every year in his name. We refers to those of us who registered and audited Nalbantoğlu’s graduate level course, Advanced Issues in Sociology of Knowledge in 1998. We then carried it into a reading group a year later. From 1999 until the summer of 2001, when four of us left METU for to get out PhD degrees in the US, we read quite a bit of Daoist philosophy and Heidegger. To this day, friendships sprung in that period continue to be one of my intellectual tentacles.
The last symposium I was able to attend was in 2015. Here is the program, and here are the video recordings of the panels.
